Sanofi’s bold leap in expanding inclusivity: Unveiling an Accessibility Action Plan

Health Industry Hub | February 23, 2024 |

Human Resources: In a significant move towards fostering inclusivity and breaking down accessibility barriers, Sanofi Australia has launched its latest Accessibility Action Plan. Endorsed by the Australian Disability Network (ADN) and developed in collaboration with Sanofi’s Ability+ employee resource group, the plan is set to transform the workplace landscape, ensuring Sanofians make a positive impact across the community.

Corene Strauss, CEO of the Australian Disability Network, commended Sanofi’s commitment, stating, “We’re constantly coming up with new and innovative ways to increase diversity and inclusion in the workplace but need businesses and government to embrace and develop these ideas to make the most impact. As a partner on Sanofi’s journey since 2019, we’re inspired by their ‘never settle’ attitude and the updated person-centred Accessibility Action Plan. Efforts like these are what will help create a more equitable and inclusive Australia.”

The Accessibility Action Plan revolves around four key priority areas: Leadership and Culture, Our People, Our Workspace, and Our Community. Each of these areas encompasses both short-term and long-term actions, supported by a robust governance process, seamlessly integrating accessibility into the fabric of Sanofi’s business operations.

Karen Hood, Country Lead for Sanofi Australia & New Zealand, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the plan, saying, “Our Accessibility Action Plan builds on our ambition to support a better future for people with disability. With the support of our dedicated Ability+ Employee Resource Group, we’ve made progress with mentoring, training, and listening to where we can make a unique impact. And, we’re building more inclusive spaces at work. Whether a need exists on an employee’s first day or 10 years into their career, our Accessibility Action Plan keeps us accountable and ensures that flexibility and workplace adjustments are part of our everyday conversation.”

Ms Hood also emphasised the pivotal role of the Australian Disability Network in guiding this process, stating, “Australian Disability Network has been a trusted advisor through this process, and we’re excited to have their full support to tackle our new Action Plan and help build a more inclusive society.”

This release of the Accessibility Action Plan marks another significant step in Sanofi Australia’s commitment to contributing to an inclusive and non-discriminatory society, striving towards equal access and opportunities for the more than 2.1 million people of working age who live with a disability. It builds on the progress made since 2019 when Sanofi first partnered with the Australian Disability Network and participated in the Positive Action Towards Career Engagement (PACE) and Stepping Into Programs.

Sanofi’s forward-thinking approach continues to shape the future of workplace inclusivity, setting a benchmark for other organisations to follow suit.
